Documentation of YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INSUTRIES workshop OHMANSLAND 5000: A VISIONARY COMMUNITY at Campbelltown Arts Centre, 2010.

In November 2010 YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES undertook a series of two-day workshops at Campbelltown Arts Centre and 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art. The workshops were attended by members of the community who answered a public call to meet the artists, learn basic Flash animation techniques and the respond in text to the idea ‘ a future city’. These texts formed the basis of YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES new works for Edge of Elsewhere 2011. 2010 Publication

A 144-page full-colour hardcover publication designed by Boccalatte (http://www.boccalatte.com) was produced and published by Campbelltown Arts Centre to accompany this first exhibition of the project. The publication comprised seven original essays from the curatorial team and independent writers including Sunil Badami, Farid Farid, Binghui Huangfu and Dr Catriona Moore. The essays covered aspects of the project’s curatorial premise, historical analysis and contemporary perspectives on community engaged arts projects, analysis of featured art works, and perspectives on the cultural landscape of Western Sydney. Three Q&A format interviews with project artists were also included, along with a large quantity of images of art work in the exhibition and documentation of performative works.

The publication was awarded a Graphis Gold Award 2010. (http://www.graphis.com/latest/winners/annuals/design/?book=53&utm_source=ConstantContact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DES2011_WinnersList)
